March 15, 2017 - ShadeScapes Americas, a Hotchkiss-based company which designs architectural grade residential and commercial shade umbrellas, has been nominated as a Colorado Company to Watch for 2017. The program honors 50 second stage companies that develop products or services which help create quality jobs, enrich communities and create new industries. The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade launched the program in 2009 to recognize growing companies that fuel Colorado’s economy. Award winners will be announced in June.

Companies that are nominated must be privately held, headquartered in Colorado, have between 6-99 employees and have between $750,000 – $50 million in annual sales. Additionally, companies eligible for the award must be past the start up stage and must have demonstrable intent and capacity to grow.

According to Colorado Companies to Watch, the 50 winning companies in 2016 had $503 million in total revenue. Since the program began eight years ago, 400 Colorado companies have been honored.

Each year-long program is designed to rally around second-stage organizations throughout the state and the business communities that serve as their champions, nominators and underwriters. After an intense application and selection process, a gala dinner is held to celebrate the winners and their supporters. Throughout the year, continuous value comes to the winners and their communities through publicity and local and statewide celebratory events.

“ShadeScapes is honored to be a finalist in the 2017 Colorado Companies to Watch award and to be recognized as a leading second-stage entrepreneurial venture. We thank the North Fork community for its 15 years of support in helping us achieve our goals of growth and innovation,” said co-owner Jo Edmondson.
