Salone Del Mobile 2023

by Ward Deruyter | May 18, 2023 8:01:00 PM

May 18th, 2023 - With over 2000 exhibitors, the Salone Del Mobile in Milan, Italy, is the largest furniture and design trade show in the world. They welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors every year at the fairgrounds located just outside of the city center. We went to discover the latest trends in shade (and furniture).

It's hard to imagine the sheer amount of visitors who come from all over the world to visit the Salone Del Mobile every year. The main event is held at Fiera Milano, a 2,500,000 sq ft complex designed by Massimiliano Fuksas. Numerous events and expos are also hosted throughout the historic city center.

The Salone had a lot to offer this year. Pizza, wine, charcuterie ... ;-)

Before I get into that, let me introduce you to some our of (existing) manufacturing partners showcasing their latest product innovations at the Salone.

Extremis

Tools for togetherness. That's what Extremis (literally) brings to the table. Showcasing their newest creation, the Panigiri table, the booth felt and looked like a Greek village.

Why Greek you may ask. The name Panigiri comes from traditional Greek festivals where young and old gather around the table.

The Panigiri however, wasn't the only star on their booth. The stunning Sensu umbrella played a central role in displaying how elegance, minimalism and functionality go hand-in-hand.

The founder of Extremis, Belgian designer Dirk Wynants was inspired by Japanese sensu (hand fans) when he created this beautiful flat cantilever umbrella.

And what to say about the versatility of the AMAI table. This table will tailor to you needs. Whether you're hosting a get-together with friends and family, brainstorm ideas with colleagues or simply need a place to relax and unwind, this multi-functional table has it all.

Scolaro

Presenting a new product at the Salone Del Mobile is scary and exciting at the same time. How will people react? Will they like the design?

The new Alba cantilever umbrella is proof of Scolaro's craftsmanship and eye for detail. The Alba's features include:

  • an adjustable vertical pole height
  • 360° rotation
  • up to 70° tilt on both sides

Scolaro also showcased some of their best-selling products, such as the Galaxia Astro, Galaxia Quattro and Capri

The Astro and Quattro both use the same hydraulic gas spring system to open and close the umbrella in one motion.

The Versa UX umbrella comes with a spectacular opening and closing system that will definitely make some heads turn your way.

They also presented a round version of the Versa, call the Versa Safari UX. It comes with the same opening and closing system. This will be available to ship shortly.
